About Our School

Building a Community Principal’s Message- Kathleen A. Razzetti
Examining Student Performance: Last week our students in grades three through eight took a sample English Language Arts Assessment.  This provided students experience with the style questions and tasks they will find on the actual assessment.  During our Professional Development half day, all members of the faculty corrected portions of the assessments.  Our goal with this is to evaluate how our children are performing, examine the skills and types of questions evaluated, and compare this to lessons we teach. This process cannot be completed within one, half-day session.  We will be continuing our work to direct our teaching and help us identify a new English Language Arts series for next school year.  This work will continue during future faculty meetings.
Thank you! From March 1st through March 5th, our students participated in Read Across America by celebrating Dr. Seuss’ birthday with numerous activities.  I thank Mrs. Hayes, Mrs. Henzy, Mrs. Morrow and their committee for organizing the multiple events all week.  The best part of the celebration was the excitement for reading generated.  We look forward to another celebration next year!
Collecting Gently Used Books:  As an extension of Read Across America, we are collecting gently used books for the children at South Bay Elementary School.  We will also be holding a used book sale later this spring with proceeds going to Catholic Relief Services, helping earthquake victims.
Re-Registration:  This year, more than ever, we need to identify our enrollment numbers for the 2010-2011 school year.  Please re-register now.
